Smartoptics has successfully tested the Smartoptics DCP-M40 open line system and DCP-1610 transponder with IBM’s Geographically Dispersed Parallel Sysplex (GDPS) offering.

“Financial institutions around the world rely on Smartoptics for their data center connectivity. We are currently involved in a project with one of the leading financial institutions in the Asia-Pacific region. In this environment, it is crucial that no transaction data is lost. The requirement for data consistency in applications is met using synchronous mirroring of the bank’s GDPS-based data centers. Following IBM’s certification of the complete solution, IBM Z customers using GDPS now have the potential to leverage the full power of Smartoptics’ networking solutions for establishing powerful yet cost-efficient DWDM connectivity between different network nodes.”, says Matthias Kayser
Director Presales at Smartoptics.
The Smartoptics products validated by IBM are the DCP-1610 high-density transponder module along with the DCP-M40 DWDM open line system. The scenario supported in the testing was 90-100 km distances.
